Vitra Wiggle

The Vitra Wiggle series is made from corrugated cardboard and designed by Frank O. Gehry. The page shows the Wiggle chair from 1972 and the Wiggle stool in natural cardboard, a mix of everyday furniture and sculpture. Both pieces are light and sculptural, and made for everyday use.

Vitra Wiggle: furniture in cardboard

Wiggle is an example of Frank O. Gehry's inventive approach to everyday materials. The chair was designed in 1972 and, like the stool, is made of lightly folded corrugated cardboard in its natural colour, which gives it a very personal look. Because the material is so unusual, the pieces have a strong presence even in a simple room, and their folded form is visible from every side.

Chair and stool

Both pieces look simple but are built with an architect's skill, so they are comfortable, durable and robust. The chair can serve as an extra seat in the living room, as a desk chair or as a playful silhouette in a room. The stool is a combination of footstool and artwork.
