Vitra Decorative accessories
Vitra decorative accessories range from Alexander Girard's hand-painted Wooden Dolls to George Nelson's wall clocks and the L'Oiseau bird sculpture. Vitra decorative accessories with a story
Many Vitra accessories are small editions of well-known designs. The Wooden Dolls were drawn by Alexander Girard in 1952, originally for his own home, and each one is hand-painted, so no two are exactly alike. Put them together on a shelf or spread them around the home for a burst of colour. They are the largest group among the Vitra Wooden Doll pieces here.
Clocks and sculptures
George Nelson's clocks are icons of the 1950s, with sculptural shapes and different materials. The Vitra Design Museum edition follows the original design from 1958. The Ball Clock, Diamond, Cone, Eye Clock and Sunburst models come in finishes such as walnut, beech, black and brass, or bright multicolour. For three-dimensional pieces there are the Eames House Bird sculptures in ash and walnut, the Eames Plywood Mobile in black or Ice Grey, and L'Oiseau, a wooden bird that adds charm to modern furniture without becoming kitsch.
Styling with Vitra
A row of Wooden Dolls works on a bookshelf, while a Nelson clock gives a plain wall a focal point. Combine them with other Vitra pieces, from Eames chairs to Akari lamps, to build a room around one design family. The Elephant Pads trivet in Sand and the Metal Wall Relief sculptures, such as Little Heart and Magic Snake, show the lighter side of the range.
