Since its foundation in 1932 by the Italian architect Gio Ponti, FontanaArte has been at the forefront of combining beauty, technology, and functionality in lighting design. This ethos is evident in their wide assortment of popular lamps, including iconic designs like theFontana Table Lamp,Thor Table Lamp, and the Vertigo Floor Lamp, with the latter two having won the prestigious ADI Compasso d'Oro award in 2006. The brand's history dates back further, to 1881 under Luigi Fontana, but truly became the FontanaArte known today in 1931, when Fontana brought on Gio Ponti. Ponti's direction introduced classic models such as the 0024, Bilia, Pirellina, and Pirellone, reinforcing FontanaArte's reputation in the design world. Among its renowned designers, Max Ingrand stands out, best known for the Fontana Table Lamp and his contributions to French recessed windows.
