Handmade lamps and Made to Order
Many designer lamps are handmade, and some manufacturers also work with made to order production, meaning the lamp is produced once an order is placed. This supports more sustainable production and ensures each lamp is crafted with great care and attention to detail. We always aim to keep best-selling models in stock to reduce waiting times.
Below, you can find an overview of brands whose handmade production may result in longer delivery times. This can help explain possible delays and prepare you before placing your order, especially during busy production periods.
Tom Rossau
Tom Rossau makes beautiful lamps from turned wood veneer, which are assembled by hand in their workshop at Frederiksberg in Copenhagen.
These lamps are also "made to order", meaning that if we do not have any lamps in stock, it will usually take around 4 weeks to produce the lamp. Fortunately, we usually have Tom Rossau's bestsellers in stock and we regularly order products from them, to reduce the waiting time for you.
Should there be a claim on your Tom Rossau lamp, you should also be aware that it may take 4-6 weeks before we can replace the lamp for you.
Serge Mouille
The renowned and exclusive French brand Serge Mouille is another of our brands that makes the lamps from scratch and produces "made to order".
The delivery time for a Serge Mouille lamp is usually 5-7 weeks, depending on the pressure on production.
If you need to order a larger quantity of lamps for your new home, it is important that you are aware of these waiting times, as we cannot speed up the production process.
Made By Hand
As the name suggests, the Copenhagen-based brand, Made By Hand, makes handmade lamps to order. Made By Hand can usually produce an order within a few days, unless there is pressure on the workshop or materials are in backorder.
We work closely with Made By Hand and the manufacturer always tries to get Andlight orders out on time, but there may be waiting times due to busyness or lack of materials.
Graypants
American Graypants manufactures lamps from sustainable materials and is perhaps best known for their Scraplight series, which can be experienced at the new Alsik hotel in Sønderborg, Denmark.
The Scraplight series is made of recycled cardboard and still manages to give a beautiful and warm expression, with its brown color.
The Scraplight series is handmade and can be backordered. Fortunately, they have a production in the Netherlands, so we do not have to ship the lamps from the US.
Vitra
The popular Swiss brand Vitra has in recent years gained a strong foothold in Nordic interior design, with its Akari series featured in countless interior magazines.
The Akari series is unique, as each lamp is made using traditional methods in a Japanese workshop. Demand has been overwhelming, meaning the relatively small workshop cannot always keep up.
During peak season, we have unfortunately seen waiting times of up to 2 months for a handmade Akari lamp. Normal delivery time is around 2–3 weeks, but in November and December delays can be significantly longer.
Vaarnii
Finnish brand Vaarnii creates lighting and furniture from solid Finnish pine, produced locally in Finland with a strong focus on craftsmanship and material quality.
Many of Vaarnii’s lighting designs are produced in smaller batches, while selected models are made to order.
For items in stock, delivery is often possible within 1–2 weeks. For made-to-order or temporarily sold-out items, delivery time is typically 6–8 weeks.
Larger pieces and special finishes may occasionally require longer lead times.
Pilke
Pilke is a Finnish lighting brand known for handcrafted lamps made from sustainably sourced birch plywood.
The lamps are assembled using traditional techniques without screws or glue, making each piece detailed and production-intensive.
Standard lead time is usually 2–4 weeks, while larger pendant models or temporarily unavailable finishes may require 5–7 weeks.
Because production is handcrafted, waiting times may vary during busy periods.
Gervasoni
Italian brand Gervasoni combines contemporary design with traditional Italian craftsmanship.
Many of their lighting products are produced to order, especially selected finishes, upholstery combinations and less stocked collections.
Standard delivery time is typically 5-6 weeks, while custom finishes or lower-volume models may require 7–8 weeks.
We recommend ordering early for project use or larger quantities.
Thorup Copenhagen
Thorup Copenhagen creates refined lighting rooted in Scandinavian simplicity, using premium materials and carefully controlled production.
Many products are made in smaller production runs or assembled to order to ensure consistent quality and finish.
Standard delivery time is typically 1-2 weeks, while selected finishes or sold-out models may require 6–8 weeks.
Because production volumes are limited, popular models can occasionally sell out quickly.
